Complementary and alternative medicine is a very wide and all-encompasing gathering of different products and activities being offered world-wide. Normal, standard, medicine is based on the medical profession and products marketed by the phamaceuticl industry under the supervision of the FDA. Then outside of that is CAM. Last year the American public spent more than 33 billion dollars on CAM services and products. Everybody is interested in health and well-being and there are many alternative ways to achieve this. Perhaps the only concern voiced by many is the absence of control and supervision of the alternative health products. We must apply a high degree of precaution before consuming many of these products.
